Kate Milham is a contemporary artist whose practice is grounded in concept, process, and material. Her work often begins with an idea or narrative thread, followed by an exploration of materials that carry relevance and resonance. Through layering, erasure, and intuitive decision‑making, each piece evolves in response to the process itself — meaning emerging through the act of making.

 

Kate’s work navigates the social, the personal, and the remembered, using restrained palettes and material depth to create spaces of tension, nuance, and quiet emotional pull. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Tasmania and has exhibited widely across Aotearoa, with recognition including finalist selections for the NZ Painting and Printmaking Award and the Parkin Drawing Prize, and multiple regional awards. Her work is held in private collections throughout New Zealand and Australia.
