Kate’s community art practice centres on collaboration, celebration, and creating moments of connection that surprise and uplift the people who encounter them. She works alongside local artists, organisations, and residents to develop pop‑up installations and participatory projects that bring joy, mark significant occasions, and invite the community to be part of the making. In 2018, she collaborated with artist Sara Boland to create one hundred hand‑made poppies for the Waikanae Beach Domain, honouring the one hundred soldiers from the Kāpiti Coast who died in World War I and commemorating the centenary of Armistice Day. Installed at dawn, the poppies appeared as a quiet, powerful gesture of remembrance, supported by the Waikanae Community Board.

That same year, and again in 2019, Kate partnered with MenzShed Kāpiti to create a large conical Christmas tree that the community helped paint and decorate before it was installed on the Waikanae Beach Domain. Lit at night and surrounded by carol singing on Christmas Eve, the project became a joyful annual gathering point.

In 2019, to mark 125 years of Women’s Suffrage, Kate collaborated with artists Mick Finn and Sara Boland, along with students from Paraparaumu College, to create a multi‑layered project celebrating young women’s voices. The initiative included a short film featuring the school’s Girl Up group, a series of fabric badges, and an exhibition titled Girl Power, with all works created by the students under Kate’s mentorship.
